W. Galton was possibly involved with the partnership of Billing & Galton prior to 1897.

The Graham Gadd Archive (NMS) includes ten bills for W. Galton on his sole account, as a joiner, cabinet maker, upholsterer and undertaker, dated 1897-1902. 

From 1897-1899 his address was recorded as Stockwell Street and 1900-1902 at King Street, with workshop at Union Street, Leek. The first is dated midsummer 1897, and another dated September 1901, are illustrated above; both were for work carried out at All Saints School.
