Frame, James

Glasgow, Scotland; chairmaker (fl. 1794-5)

Appears in University of Glasgow accounts between 1794-1807, carrying out furniture repairs, e.g., repairing ‘one of the Elbow Chairs forehall new top rail -/2/6’. Between June 1794-June 1795 his account amounted to £4 19s 1d. Inscription ‘JAMES FRAME x GLASGOW’ is on the underside of the Blackstone chair, which was made in 1775 for the University of Glasgow, so he probably repaired it during this period.
