Flashman, George

Dover, Kent; cabinet maker, upholsterer, paper hanger, house agent (fl.1832–1888)

A billhead and receipt (above), dated 1832, for G. Flashman & Co., cabinet makers, upholsterers, paper hangers and general house agents, in Last Lane for a sofa, price £3 17s 6d,  is included in the Graham Gadd Archive (NMS). 

Also recorded as G. Flashman at Last Lane (1832–34) and G. Flashman & Co. at 8 Market Place and Castle Street  in 1839. 

George Flashman, either the father (born c.1805) or his son who was also George (b.1831), was listed at Market Square & Union Hall, St Mary’s, Dover in The Furniture Gazette Directory, 1877. 

Flashman was recorded as holding a Royal Warrant from the Lord Chamberlain in 1885 & 1888 [The Furniture Gazette, 14 February 1885 & 1 March 1888].
