Eyre(s), James & Thomas (1773-1815)

Eyre(s), James & Thomas, 356 Oxford St, near the Pantheon, London, u and carpet manufacturers (1773–1815). Recorded at 358 Oxford St in 1773; as Thomas & Son, 1809–12; and as J. Eyre (perhaps the son of Thomas) in 1814–15. James alone took out a Sun Insurance policy on 3 January 1775 for £400 on the contents of a house in Jermyn St in tenure. Took out insurance policies with Thomas in 1776 and 1779, both for £2,600, £2,200 on utensils, stock and goods; and in 1777 for £800 on a house. The firm is named in Sheraton's list of master cabinet makers, 1803. Trade card or bill head recorded.
