The son of the brewer, George Dunn of Blaydon, County Durham, apprenticed to George Reynoldson on 7 December 1762.

Probably the Michael Dunn, apprentice resident for three years in St Michael-le-Belfrey parish in the 1767 Census of Roman Catholics [York apprentice register; Catholic Recusancy in York].
