Newtownards, Co. Down, Ireland; chair maker (19^th century)

A cradle donated by a Mr Duff at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra Co. Down is dated by the donor to 1864 and was made by his great-grandfather, a chair maker of Newtownards, Co. Down (illus. Carragher, Regional Furniture (1994), fig. 8).
