Croft, Joseph

Lancaster and Preston, Lancs, cabinet maker (1762–84)

Joseph Croft of Kirkby Lonsdale, gentleman, was apprenticed to William Blackburn, and Redman Bateman, joiners and cabinet makers of Lancaster from 17 May 1762 and was free by servitude, 1772-73  By January 1773 he was working as a cabinet maker in Preston, at which date he bought a neat looking glass in a gilt frame for £1.16s. from Gillows. He is recorded in the Preston Directories from 1781-4.
