Free of the Upholders’ Co. under the 1750 Upholders’ Act, 22 November 1786. He subscribed to Sheraton's Drawing Book, 1793.

Possibly the Joseph Cooper, furniture broker, cabinet maker, upholsterer, looking-glass maker, appraiser and undertaker, recorded at 93 Bishopsgate in 1822 and 1823. This trade card and billhead is in the John Johnson Collection at the Bodleian Library, Oxford.
