Cooper, George & Sons (1837-1885)
Cooper, George & Sons
High Street, Windsor, Berkshire; japanner (fl.1837-85)
Recorded in the Lord Chamberlain’s accounts in 1837-85. J. V. Cooper was also listed at this address and in 1870 John Cooper explained in a letter to the Lord Chamberlain that his final bill for the year exceeded his estimates partly because the work done (restoration of the Crimson Drawing Room at Windsor) was considerably greater that he had anticipated owing to the bad condition of the original gilding, and partly because there had been a rise in prime costs, particularly in wages.
