Cloak, Jacob (1771-94)

Cloak, Jacob, London, upholder and broker (1771–94). Admitted freeman of the Upholders’ Co. by redemption by an order of the Court of Alderman 3 April 1771. His address at this date was Moorfields. In 1780 he was at 30 Old Bethlem where he took out insurance cover of £200, half of which was for utensils and stock. By 1786 the insurance cover had risen to £500 of which £200 was for utensils and stock. In this year he was at 24 Old Bethlem, the address subsequently occupied by Thomas and Elizabeth Cloak.
