Carruthers, William

Lancaster, Lancs.; cabinet maker (fl.1769-1782)

He made a variety of furniture in the 1770s including best splat back chairs, ‘old Gothic' common chairs, straight Gothic chairs, a clock case with an arched face, several children's chairs, a bureau writing table for Williams Hassell (now at Dalemain) and a small writing table. His work was recorded in the Gillow’s Petty Ledger for 1766-69, 1769-73, 1773-77 and 1780-82.
