Son of John Bowker, tanner, Yaxley, Hunts.; app. to Nicholas Parkes, draper, on 6 April 1757, and admitted freeman of the Upholders’ Co. on 6 March 1766. Took out Sun Insurance policies on utensils and stock in 1779 for £750 out of a total of £1,000; in 1781 for £1,630 out of £2,000; and on 21 February 1810 for £1,650 out of £2,000. Probably the John Bowker, upholder of St Andrew's, Holborn, declared bankrupt, Gents Mag., June 1772, and July 1784.
