Barrett, Richard, George and William (1820-1889)
Barrett, Richard, George and William
Pembroke, Wales; cabinet maker, builder, upholsterer, paper hanger, appraiser and undertaker (fl. c.1820-1889)
Richard Barrett is recorded in early 19th century directories in Main Street, Pembroke and his billhead is illustrated in Bebb (2007), II, fig, 1079. In 1839 he compiled an ‘Estamate for making mahogany and oak furniture for Lady Cawdor of Stackpole Court’ which included dressing tables, writing tables, a bidet, pot cupboard and bedstead. Both Richard & George Barrett were listed separately as cabinet maker in Pigot's South Wales Directory, 1844 in Pembroke.
Richard was succeeded at an unknown date by George and William Barrett, presumably his sons, and the business continued until George’s death in 1889. Thereafter Rees Phillips occupied the site.
