Recorded in the 1871 Kelly’s Post Office Directory at 107 St Paul’s Road and 24 Canonbury Street, Islington, London. Also listed at that address in The Furniture Gazette: Classified List of the Furniture, Upholstery, and Allied Trades (1886).

The firm advertised in The Furniture Gazette (1874) and was also listed that year in The Furniture Gazette Directory. The advertisement in the 16 May 1874 issue mentioned Barnard’s patent rising and double-sliding top for invalids’ beds; writing, reading, card, library or office tables; Barnard’s patent folding hammock bassinette.

The company participated in the 1873 Vienna World Exhibition. The Furniture Gazette (30 May 1874 ) included an illustration of Barnard’s invalid table they exhibited and recorded a range of their patent baby furniture: hammocks, bassinets & baskets. They were awarded a medal at the Centennial Exhibition, Philadelphia [The Furniture Gazette, 26 August & 14 October 1876]. 

The Furniture Gazette (28 September 1878) reported that Barnard received an honourable mention for a patent folding hammock and an invalid table &c. in class seventeen of the 1878 Paris Exhibition. They also exhibited at the 1881 Islington Furniture Exhibition and the 2nd Furniture Trades Exhibition at Agricultural Hall, in May 1882 [The Furniture Gazette, 13 August 1881 & 25 March 1882].
