Conisbrough, Yorks.; joiner and cabinet maker (b.1777-d.1839)
Joseph Appleyard (1777-1839) of Halifax married Jane Chester (1792-1863) of Gargrave in Clitheroe, Lancs. They moved to Conisborough sometime after their marriage in 1810. Joseph was described in baptismal registers of St Peter’s Conisborough, as both joiner and (1819) cabinet maker. He also had land which he farmed to help support his family.
Joseph had six surviving children of whom three sons, George, Joseph and William followed him into the trade.
