On 1 May 1888 The Furniture Gazette recorded the firm as having admitted a new partner and becoming H. & G. Alexander & Co., listed at Barrowfield Steam-Chair Factory, 48 French Street, Bridgton, Glasgow (the previous name of the business was not recorded).

Kelly’s Directory of 1901 recorded H & A.G. Alexander & Co. Ltd as a ‘steam chair factory’, patentees and manufacturers of ‘the celebrated Triumph baby chair’, ‘Restuwell spring seat’ rocking chair and ‘Ayanco leg rest’. Also stuff-over easy chairs on Universal cradle springs, patented adjustable bed chairs, wooden coal vases and coal cabinets, patented music stools, duet stools and music cabinets, folding suites, folding tables. 

At this date the factory was listed at Eastfield, Rutherglen, Glasgow and their London representative was named as Mr W. F. Knight of 8a City Road, Finsbury. Trade only supplied. An advertisement for the firm is illustrated in Agius (1978), p. 162.
