Alcock, John (1685-1686)
Alcock, John
Conwy, Wales and Hatton, Cheshire; sawyer, carpenter or timber merchant (fl.1685-6)
In June 1685 this man employed on the Gwydir estate in the Conwy valley. He was paid ‘for cleaving and hewing 2 doz chair pillers at 3d p. dozen’. He was also paid to cleave laths, spokes and barrel staves, and to oversee the felling of trees. He bought and sold timber, shipping some of it to Liverpool in 1686. The documentation suggests he was originally from Hatton, Cheshire.
